We are not even halfway through the month of February yet, and HMD has already begun the rollout of the month’s security patch to two of its units. That said, if you are a proud owner of either the Nokia 3 or Nokia 8, you should sit tight and wait for this update. On both devices, the updates are expected to weigh nothing more than 80MB and 87MB respectively, so move some things around if need be.
One of the major security issues that have been addressed by this patch is the Media framework vulnerability. Initially, a skilled hacker could make use of the void to run an arbitrary code with a specially crafted file, exposing the user to possible loss of sensitive data. Safe to say that has been pre-empted and nipped in the bud now.
The updates are not for all markets yet. Only the Jordan and Indian markets are getting that for the Nokia 8 as we speak. Even then, the Nokia 8 has to be running on a stable Android 8 Oreo software to get it. The Nokia 3 update, on the other hand, is still exclusive to the Indian market.
As soon as more markets join the list, we will be the first to let you know
