Tecno Spark 2 has been launched as the successor to last year’s edition and going by the specs and new features , we can say it is a worthy successor. The spark 2 comes with improvement in key areas such as display and aesthetics , security and battery capacity.

What’s New On The Spark 2? :

• Bigger display , More Pixels :

The new Spark 2 comes with a 6-inch display which is .5 inches bigger than last year’s edition (Spark K7 had 5.5 inches). As you would expect , the screen has a higher resolution @1440 x 720 pixels , which should display sharper images.

• Beautiful Aesthetics , Bezel less Display : 

One of the biggest and most noticeable change is the full view , 18:9 aspect ratio display which gives a cleaner , more attractive look. Hands-on , it makes the phone feel slim and tall.

Another noticeable change is the camera placement at the back. It is cleaner and the LED flash is separate from the camera lens , unlike the K7 where the lens and led flash are housed together.

The body is made of plastic which is not a surprise considering the fact it costs just #36,200.

• Face Recognition Unlock (Face ID) :

Tired of using your fingerprint scanner all the time? The Face recognition software on the new Spark 2 will allow you unlock your smartphone using your face.

• Android Oreo GO Operating System : 

This smartphone runs on a special edition of Android 8.1 Oreo called “Android Go”.

Android Go is an optimized version of Android operating system designed to work on low-entry smartphones , especially smartphones with 512MB and 1GB RAM. It is built to provide efficiency by optimizing the performance , apps and storage so even with 1GB RAM or less , you can still enjoy using the smartphone. You can learn more here.

• Improved Battery :

Power users will love the 3500mAh battery on the Spark 2 , which should last up to 12 hours on moderate consumption.

The Drawbacks Of Spark 2 :

• Low RAM and Internal Storage :

One area TECNO didn’t improve on is the RAM and Internal storage of Spark 2. It comes with 1GB RAM which , considering it is 2018 and how far smartphone tech has gone , is too small for a device ; albeit a budget phone.

For storage , the spark 2 has 16GB in-built storage which if you consider the OS and pre-installed apps , leaves the user with just 11GB left. This is however remedied by the availability of a dedicated external SD card slot.

• No 4G LTE :

As with its predecessor , the Spark 2 does not support 4G LTE Network. So if you’re looking for a smartphone with 4G capability , you might want to look elsewhere.

• It is a fingerprint magnet :

Remember i told you the Spark 2 has a plastic body , yeah?

Well , get ready to have your fingerprint all over your phone when you hold it , because this phone is a fingerprint magnet. Not that its a big deal but it will make you consider buying a phone case.
